Movement Strategies is delighted to be part of the design team for a new arena in Valencia, Spain which will be the home of Valencia Basket Club (a member of Spain’s top professional basketball league) as well as a premier destination for music, arts, culture and sporting events. We are working alongside architects HOK International and ERRE Arquitectura, with the Arena part of an area-wide master plan being progressed by LICAMPA 1617.
The venue will feature training facilities, a museum, a diverse range of premium hospitality amenities and an intimate seating bowl designed to heighten the fan experience. Movement Strategies will work with the team to ensure that the venue is designed to accommodate anticipated crowd flows safely, and that the venue can operate effectively during event ingress, half-time and egress for a range of scenarios. Whilst this will draw upon international best practice, ensuring that the venue design is specifically tailored to the local conditions will be achieved through observations and data collection of spectator behaviour at the existing Valencia Basket Club home matches held nearby.
